Crosby practices but not ready to return (AP)

Sidney Crosby is having a recurrence of the problems that sidelined him for more than 10 months earlier this year.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby practiced Monday but said he is no closer to returning from a concussion and neck injury that have sidelined him for most of the season. Coach Dan Bylsma felt with Jordan Staal and Simon Despres ready to resume skating after their injuries, it was better to include Crosby in the main practice rather than have him skate on his own.



Sabres' Ruff breaks 3 ribs at practice (AP)

As if the Buffalo Sabres haven't endured enough injuries already this season. Add coach Lindy Ruff to the list. Ruff sustained three broken ribs in what was described as "a freak accident" after he was upended by defenseman Jordan Leopold in practice on Monday. Capitals say Laich's injury 'not major' (AP)

The Washington Capitals awaited word Monday on the severity of Brooks Laich's left knee injury, a setback that comes at a crucial time in the team's hopes for a fifth straight Southeast Division title. Wild sign D Prosser to 2-year extension (AP)

The Minnesota Wild have signed defenseman Nate Prosser to a two-year contract extension. The 25-year-old Prosser has six assists in 23 games for the Wild this season. The Wild are 14-7-2 with the rookie in the lineup, and coach Mike Yeo has praised his poise and ability to implement the new system that has been installed.
